Peter Tessier: Jets hold off Devils with Laine winner Jets continue winning ways with 3-2 victory over visiting Devils

Unless you're really negative, the emergence of our "super" rookie (Patrik Laine) makes every single game a joy.

That kind of excitement hasn't been seen around this town since Hawerchuk and Selanne graced the old barn.

I swear...while sitting in the crowd...every time the puck falls onto Laine's stick...there's an electricity in the crowd because everyone knows that every single shot of his has the possibility of going into the net.

It's what makes this year...regardless of our record.

I agree Connor should go down to play, we can always bring him back up.

Why will no one talk about Buff's poor play? Not Maurice, not Beyak or Hnidy, not Peter? no one!! he has been horrible, he seems to be responsible for at least one goal against a game if not more, last night gave up two break aways, he constantly losses his man, is usually hanging Morrisey out to dry with poor pinches and late getting back and yet no one says anything? He is clearly playing worse than Trouba, Morrisey, Enstrom and one can argue Myers but no one says boo? when Enstrom and Myers come back Buff should be moved to forward to remind him if he wont play D he doesn't have to.

Was at the game last night - quick thoughts:

- Laine's shot we knew about ... he's now getting more comfortable roaming the ice with the puck ... great set of hands on that kid and his confidence is growing
- Helle outstanding except for that siv goal by Wood
- that kid Wood - great set of wheels - he moves ... good on Devils
- having Little & Stafford back sure helps ... our youngsters gave yeoman duty but seemed to fizzle at the end ... now bring us back Perrault, Myers, Armia
- Byf is playing TOO MANY MINUTES ... I agree with other post - not playing his best - too many breakdowns and he has yet to take control of a game the way he can
- Schiefs playing confident and his skating is solid
- Ehlers ... Ehlers ! ... he, too, is playing better and seems to be creating more open ice for himself
- Wheels was flying last night

I like Laine but wished he played with a bit more urgency or determination along the boards and in the corners.

Why do you want another winger? Honestly, where would he fit? Connor, petan need at some point top 6 minutes. I love that eventually we will have a poop disturber in Lemieux in our line up, have to keep armia in top nine, still have dano, so seriously where does he fit

TBH I really want to see this roster play as a healthy unit for a bit before deciding to add more guys. Once Perreault and Myers are back let's see what this team looks like for a bit before looking for deals.

If I'm Chevy I'm looking for some depth D as I would assume either Postma or Chiarot will be gone at deadline or after.

Let's get Connor to AHL for minutes. Having Armia come back soon will help and Enstrom's return as well.
